White Sultan chickens are a beautiful ornamental breed known for their fancy feathering, friendly temperament, and unique appearance. These rare chickens are especially admired for their full crest, feathered beard, muffs, feathered legs, and fifth toe, giving them a distinctive look that stands out in any backyard flock.

White Sultans are generally docile, gentle, and friendly, making them a good choice for chicken keepers who want an eye-catching breed with a calm personality. They can do well in confinement, which makes them suitable for backyard coops and protected runs. Because of their gentle nature, White Sultan chickens may be bullied by more assertive breeds, so they often do best with other calm chickens or in a carefully managed flock.

This historic breed was once favored by the rulers of Turkey, which is how White Sultans earned their royal name. The breed originated in Southeastern Europe, was further developed in Turkey, and arrived in England by way of Istanbul in 1854. White Sultans were later admitted to the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection in 1874.

If you are looking for rare ornamental chickens for sale, White Sultan chickens are a charming choice for backyard keepers who value beauty, history, and a gentle flock personality.
