About Pekin Ducks
The Pekin Duck originated in what is now known as Bejing, China and was introduced into the Americas in the 1870s. White Pekins were admitted to the American Standard of Perfection in 1874.
White Pekin ducklings are yellow, fuzzy, and one of the cutest and most popular ducks for backyard pets. The adults are pure white and have a bright orange beak when younger. With age, the beaks of the females lighten and can develop black spots, which is completely normal.
The White Pekin makes a great farm pet for first-time duck owners. They are one of the most popular breeds of ducks. Pekins have a fast growth rate and hatching ability. Unfortunately, they are non-sitters. They would also make a great choice for a small business that would like to produce meat and eggs. Most of the ducks you buy from the grocery store are White Pekins. They are very active, entertaining and love being in the water.
The White Pekin is very popular on tv. It has been featured on Friends; Donald Duck is considered a White Pekin Breed of duck, along with the AFLAC duck.
