Silver Spitzhauben

The Silver Spangled Spitzhauben (also known as Appenzeller Spitzhauben chicken) originated in Switzerland and is their national bird. In the United States, it’s a very rare chicken breed and not yet admitted to the American Standard of Perfection. Noted characteristics are cavernous nostrils, horn type comb and mid-size forward-pointing head crest which give them their name. They’re very active and like to roost on trees. Perfect for free-range, this sweet and gentle chicken will make a truly unique addition to any flock!

About Your Ship Date:

We will email a ship date to you within 5 days of placing your order. Your chicks will arrive 1 to 3 days after that ship date. You should receive a phone call from your local post office upon delivery and we recommend you pick them up immediately upon notification.

We guarantee your ordered number of birds arrive healthy and true to breed. Please contact us immediately should any losses or variances to your order occur, this guarantee is only for the safe and live delivery of your poultry. Any loss must be reported to Chickens for Backyards within 3 days of receipt for any adjustment to be made. Re-shipments are subject to availability and minimum shipping requirements. If eligible, we will reship only once. Reimbursements are limited to the cost of the birds and will not include shipping charges.

Cancellations & Changes

A minimum of two-week notice before your ship date must be given to cancel or change a live chick order.
