We guarantee your ordered number of birds arrive healthy and true to breed. Please contact us immediately should any losses or variances to your order occur, this guarantee is only for the safe and live delivery of your poultry. Any loss must be reported to Chickens for Backyards within 3 days of receipt for any adjustment to be made. Reshipments are subject to availability and minimum shipping requirements.  If eligible, we will reship only once. Reimbursements are limited to the cost of the birds and will not include shipping charges.

Pictures don’t do justice; the rhode island red is a beautiful chicken! She lays nice brown eggs and has a good personality. I wish we’d ordered more of them. We’ve ordered from chickens for backyards several times and have always gotten healthy active chicks.

Great egg layer
Ordered 4 chicks in the spring from Chickens for Backyards, including a Rhode Island Red. “Red” as we call her, isn’t all that exceptional within the flock but is a good solid egg producer. We can count on her for 5-7 eggs a week.

I can hardly wait for my RIR chicks to arrive. In the past I enjoyed them so much. Very gentle and they loved being pet chickens… and you are assured of large brown eggs. I added several Buff Orpingtons later. They have become consumers rather than producers after 2 years, and their eggs were never brown, and the few I get now are small brown one or two a day… out of 7 remaining hens. A friend took them, plus my beautiful rooster, to try to hatch some of their eggs. I had a catastrophy with raccoons prying the roof up and getting into the hen house at night a couple of times, and killing several. Now, I am eagerly awaiting my new babies… with a totally reinnforced hen house for them to move into.

Ordered 15 RRs and received 17. All in excellent health and have become fantastic layers. One turned out to be a rooster, which worked out perfectly. Last three days we have received 16, 16 and 15 eggs!

I absolutely love my chicks so much! Ordered 3 chicks, 1 Roo, and 2 pullets, and they sent an extra pullet. All are doing amazing. I had a bit of pasty but the first few days, but they’re all healthy and doing wonderful now. They package the chicks beautifully they arrived very quickly I’m definitely going to be getting my chicks from them only now.
