Diatomaceous earth is an environmentally friendly, and safe alternative for coops, dusting bins, and nesting boxes. DE is a fine powder composed of the crushed, fossilized exoskeletons of microscopic diatoms, which will not harm children, pets, livestock, poultry, plants or the planet.
This remarkable substance is a natural desiccant. By drying up manure faster, it keeps coops cleaner, drier and odor-free. Deodorization & absorption are natural functions of DE. The benefits will continue as undigested. DE passes through and settles on the cage or coop floors. When applied in poultry’s environment, FGDE creates a natural barrier against mites, lice, fleas, and parasites.
Add to dust baths to keep feather and skin clean. Ruffling after the bath dislodges dirt, dander and feather flakes while encouraging preening which conditions feathers.
External Use: Sprinkle on coop or cage floor, cover with shavings. Sprinkle in nesting boxes between layers of hay and mix a small amount in dust bins. FGDE is environmentally friendly and natural desiccant. By quickly drying up manure faster, coops stay cleaner and drier with less odor. Use as a whitewash for roosts and walls. Mix one cup DE to 1/2 gallon of water. Stir frequently.
With Feed: DE is USDA approved as an anti-caking agent for animal feed. Add one pound or 6 cups to every 50 pounds of feed. Mixing FGDE with feed increases egg production and shell hardness.
