Wyandotte bantam chickens are a miniature size version of the standard breed. The Black Wyandotte bantam was admitted into the APA in 1933.
Like the standard size chickens, they are strong and productive. They have a beautiful solid and round fluffy look to them. Their rose combs allow them to be winter hardy. Black Wyandotte bantams are quite economical, laying plenty of eggs while eating less feed and taking up less space. Wyandotte bantams are not broody often, but when they are, they make excellent mothers even to other breeds or species of poultry.
This breed is very ornamental and is raised mostly for the joy of raising chickens. The Black Wyandotte bantam has recently become very popular in American Poultry Shows.
If you are looking for an extremely docile chicken, that has a friendly personality and is good with children, you should choose this breed. They make great pets and are perfect backyard chickens because of their usefulness, beauty, and personal enjoyment. Wyandotte bantam chickens are available in many beautiful color varieties.
