Splash Cochin Bantam

The Splash Cochin Bantam is an attractive chicken with fluffy white feathers splattered with black spots. They have an extremely calm temperament and they tolerate confinement well.

These two attributes make them popular for exhibition. The Splash variety of Cochin Bantams was recognized by the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection in 2014.

The unusual calmness of Cochin Bantams also makes them one of the best chickens around children. And with their small size, they are an excellent choice for a backyard with limited space.

Because these little birds don’t move fast, they need to be well protected from predators. But when it comes to cold weather, their dense plumage offers plenty of protection.

The unique splash color come from breeding two Blue Cochin Bantams together, resulting in about one-third of the chicks being splash. A larger version of the Splash Cochin Bantam is the Splash Cochin Standard.
